A free look over the car, and a straight answer on what it needs.
Safety is the one thing nobody wants to guess at. Bring the car in, we check the parts that keep you safe, and you leave with a written report and no obligation.

Why we offer it
More than ever, people want to know the car they are putting their family in is safe. We think the simplest way to settle that is to let a technician look at it and tell you plainly what they see. So we do, for free, and we put it in writing.
The safety check is also a useful first step when you are not sure what to book. If the car feels different, makes a new noise or has just come from a used-car yard, a safety check will tell you what is actually going on before you commit to anything.
What we look at
The check takes twenty to thirty minutes on the hoist and covers the systems that matter most on the road:
- Brakes. Pad and rotor condition, hoses and lines, fluid level and condition, and a check for any pulling or pulsing on the road test.
- Tyres. Tread depth across the width of each tyre, pressures, uneven wear that points to alignment or suspension problems, and sidewall damage.
- Lights, wipers and washers. Every exterior light, wiper blade condition and washer operation.
- Steering and suspension. Play in the steering, condition of shocks, bushes and ball joints, and anything loose underneath.
- Under the bonnet. Battery condition and charging, drive belts, coolant and brake fluid levels, and any visible leaks.
- Warning lights. We read the dash and, if a light is on, tell you what it means and what to do about it.
Everything we find goes into a short written report with photos, so you can see what we saw.
Please note
A free safety check is a general inspection. It does not constitute, and is not a substitute for, a Warrant of Fitness inspection. It will not renew or affect your WOF. If your WOF is due, book a Warrant of Fitness and we will carry out both while the car is here.
What happens next
Book a free safety check online, send an enquiry below, or call 022 3900 587. We confirm every booking by text or email. If the check turns up anything that needs attention we quote it and leave the decision with you. No work beyond the check is done without your approval.
Common questions
Is the safety check really free?
Yes. There is no charge and no obligation. We would rather you know about a worn brake pad or a bald inside tyre edge now than find out at a WOF or on the motorway.
Is this the same as a Warrant of Fitness?
No. A free safety check is a technician's look over the car with a report. It does not constitute, and is not a substitute for, a Warrant of Fitness inspection, and it does not change your WOF status. If you need a WOF, book one and we will do it in the same visit.
How long does it take?
Around twenty to thirty minutes. You are welcome to wait.
What happens if you find something?
We photograph it, explain it and put it in the report with a quote if repair is needed. Whether you go ahead is entirely up to you. No work beyond the check is done without your approval.
When is a safety check a good idea?
Before a long road trip, after buying a used car, when the car has been sitting for a while, or whenever something feels, sounds or smells different. It is also a sensible first step if you are not sure what to book.
